 THE CATHEDRAL OF TOLEDO:
The beginning of the works of the cathedral of Toledo is placed around 1222-1224, which were linked to its promoter´s personality, the bishop Ximénez de Rada. A church of five naves with a double ambulatory and without an outside marked transept was designed, according to the pattern initially followed in Notre Dame in Paris, which gave it an air of monumental character.
The cathedral of Toledo
The head of the building, which is the most complicated part of it because it has to support the counteraction of the structure, already consisted of fifteen chapels in 1238. Yet the death of Ximénez de Rada in 1248 caused a long delay in the work. By the end of the 13th century the church was still not finished and therefore the end of it is dated in the 14th century. Although Toledo is a foreign model, as far as the ground plan is concerned, the solutions adopted in the elevation of the walls and the proportions have nothing to do with it. It can be pointed out the use of arches with many lobes in the area of the clerestory of the ambulatory, which reminds us of the Moslem culture.
The cathedral of Toledo is the most ambitious enterprise of monumental character in the 13th century in the peninsula, and it also constitutes an irrefutable testimony of the will to adapt a foreign model to a local tradition (the unconcern to achieve a slender structure is complete, according to the French model) since it is not a round building. The general project of the building is attributed to Master Martin, who built the ambulatory with the radial chapels in the first twelve years of the construction of the cathedral. The next fifty years, a Master called Petrus Petri , who was probably French, was in charge of the construction and he built up the transept and part of the five naves.

MOSQUE OF THE CHRIST OF THE LIGHT:
Dating from the year AD 999, and maintained intact since the Muslim control. This Mosque is covered by four caliphal domes with Visigothic capitols. Its interior decoration is made up inter crosses arches and a calligraphic strip. On the 25th of May of 1085, the first mass took place with the conquest of the city. Previous to that, the Christians had walled in a Christ so that it would not be profaned by the Muslims. Centuries later, it was discovered after the horse of King Alphons II knelt, that it was in the company of the El Cid, Champion of the Reconquest.
The legend continues with the story that the lantern with which the Christ had been walled in continued to light 369 years after the incident, and therefore its name.

THE SYNAGOGUE OF THE TRANSIT:
It was built in 1357 by the rich Jewish Samuel ha Levi, treasurer of Pedro I of Castile who would be killed three years later by order of the king, and it passed at the Church disposal in 1360.
Since 1494, it was in the hands of the Order of Calatrava. It is still noticeable that the tombs of some of their gentlemen can be seen on the floor.
The aristocracy and the most remarkable families in the Hebrew community used to go to this synagogue. It is considered one of the most splendid samples in the Mudejar art.
Like the pagan temples of the antiquity, it has a rectangular form with a single nave, which is considered an astonishing marvel because of its decoration of plaster-works and adornments in the coffered ceiling
It was also called "hagios topos" (It means `sacred place´ in Greek). The term "topos" (place) makes a special reference to the places where God appeared, throughout History, to the people of Israel. In this way it indicated that the synagogue is a place for prayer and meeting God.
The most common representations are:
THE SYNAGOGUE OF THE TRANSIT

- The menorah: the candle of 7 arms.
- The etrog: the cidra.
- The lulab: the palm.
- The yobel: the horn of the ram.

Synagogues with representations on the pavement of the star signs have been found, being Helios (the Sun God ) in the centre of the circle and the four seasons in the corners, or with symbols of wine, turkeys, and representations of other religions that were substituted by purely Jewish symbols as time passed.
